Covid-19 Update

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Coronavirus is a virus that causes cough, fever and shortness of breath. Exposure can occur up to nine days prior to the onset of symptoms. It was initially thought that children displayed only mild or no symptoms. We are now finding that they can also become extremely ill but less often than the elderly. Like their older counterparts, children may be carriers (have the virus but not be ill) and pass the illness on to their adult caregivers who are at higher risk of more serious illness.

In order to keep our families, staff and community safe we have made some temporary changes at our office.

  • We are scheduling well visits and non-sick office visits (I.e. ADHD, ear rechecks, behavior concerns) in the morning and sick visits in the afternoon. We ask that if your child is scheduled for a well visit or a non-sick office visit and develops illness that you call to cancel or reschedule the visit.
  • We are offering telemedicine visits for conditions that do not need an exam requiring use of physician tools and tests (I.e. behavioral concerns, pink eye in verbal children, ADHD follow ups). Check with the receptionist to see if this type of visit would work for your family.
  • We ask that, when possible, only one parent/caregiver accompany the scheduled child into the office.
  • When scheduling a sick visit, please inform the staff if your child has been exposed to COVID-19. We may need to have Dr. McCray speak to you prior to your visit.

The following are steps you should take at home and work to prevent the spread of illness.

  • Practice good hand hygiene with the use of soap and water or sanitizer throughout the day and after touching potentially contaminated surfaces.
  • Practice social hygiene/distancing.

These request may change and we recommend checking our social media (website/Facebook) for updates.
